Saturday night I had the opportunity to go listen to two of my friends, Bill and Kate, at a concert they put on in Osseo, MN.  These two are amazing and I have been blessed in meeting and having the chance to get to know them over the past year and a half!  They have a song called "Ain't It Funny" that I really love.  The chorus goes:

"Ain't it funny how life goes
It's thick with thorns but can you find the rose
I found mine growing down a rough and rocky road
Ain't it funny how life goes."

It just makes me think about how often life throws thorns in our paths, meant to hinder us, but instead, those are the times I have found I've grown the most.  Life doesn't stop when we get stuck, and sometimes that means pushing through the garbage and getting hurt, many times there will be scars, but those are the times we can grow the most.  Without the pain, it wouldn't be possible to feel the joy and happiness on the other end of the spectrum.  And, above that, things can look up:  God is always by our side.  He will never leave you or forsake you.  Not only is there happiness, but there is eternal life, void of pain and darkness!
