As I was driving to work today, it came to me how many choices we have everyday. When I get up I have the choice to be:
Happy or sad,
To forgive or to be hurt,
To smile or to frown,
To love or to hate,
To cherish or to take for granted,
To befriend or ignore,
To live my life for God or for me...
The list goes on.
With each of those choices, we affect not only ourselves, but the people around us. And people will choose to see us in different ways as well. Life is based on so many choices. Sometimes I wish there would just be answers laying in front of us, large neon signs pointing toward the right way to go. But it's not that easy, and if it was, we would never know love to the extent that we do because we wouldn't know hate to the extent we do. We wouldn't have the understanding that we have and instead of learning from mistakes, we would be blindly following the path set in front of us. As much as I wish there would be choices clearly being pointed out for me, I realize that I would not be the person I am today without having the ability to choose for myself.
Life is about choices. We can choose to do what we know is right or choose to do what we know is wrong. We also sometimes have the difficult decisions and can do the right things for the wrong reasons or the wrong things for the right reasons. But no matter what we choose, we always have hope because "...we know that for those who love God, that is, for those who are
called according to his purpose, all things are working together for
good." Romans 8:28.
called according to his purpose, all things are working together for
good." Romans 8:28.
Have faith, consider in prayer all possible options, listen to the answers God speaks, and trust that in any outcome, it will work out for the best, God's plan. And there is nothing greater than that!
