Saturday night, I went to Siren, WI with three friends to see BarlowGirl.  On the way there and back, we were listening to the three BarlowGirl cds I have, and when the song, "Here's My Life" would come on, I said it was what I was dedicating to this next year, to my time in Africa.  Here are the lyrics:

"Here's My Life"

Once again I said my goodbyes

To those who I love most

My heart feels that familiar pain

As I long for home

'Cause this road is hard

When I feel so far

God I'm crying out tonight

'Cause I've given You my life

But I'm tired and I'm missing what's behind

So once more here's my life

On the day that You called my name

All that I knew changed

I found when I said yes that I'd never be the same

Though the call is hard

You are worth it all

God I'm crying out tonight

'Cause I've given You my life

But I'm tired and I'm missing what's behind

So once more

Even when the tears are falling

When I find I fear the calling

You remind me

Words You've spoken over my life

Promises I've yet to see

You comfort me

God I'm crying out tonight

'Cause I've given You my life

But I'm tired and I'm missing what's behind

So once more, here's my life

The closer I am getting to leaving (21 days, today), the more I have to say goodbye, and the more I realize that, though this will be an amazing experience, it's going to be difficult, it's going to be trying.  When I listen to this song, it just helps me to remember that I am going for a reason, God put this on my heart and caused everything to work out so that I can go.  I have given Him my life, it is not in my hands anymore, I don't have the control, He does.  This is where He has placed me for this season of my life, and I need to remember to let Him have my life, take hold of it, and prepare myself to go, because I know that this is where I am supposed to be.
This road may be difficult, and I'm sure at times it may seem long.  But I KNOW, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that God will be there with me and that this is where He wants me to be.  And I can't wait to see what He will do to and through me over these next nine months (and beyond!).

I just need to remember to say, "God, here's my life."
