Recently, I received two books. One is called Red Letters and the other The Art of Listening Prayer. Red letters is about taking the words that Jesus spoke (printed in red letters in many Bible translations) to heart and bringing them into your daily life by living them. It also incorporates a lot of information about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that covering the world. It has challenged me so much to use my waking moments toward what God desires and to live a life worthy of the calling He has placed on it. It's also challenged me to look at how much I have and how I can use that to help others.

The other book, The Art of Listening Prayer, is written by Seth Barnes, the Executive Director of AIM, the group I am going to Africa with. We have been reading paraphrases on the book through our group webpage and working on them weekly, so it was great to be able to read this book as well. So often it seems I am so quick to prayer and so slow to listen. The Art of Listening Prayer explained, in simple ways, how to just sit and listen. It also had practical applications on how to do this, step-by-step. More information is available on this book from Seth's webpage as well: www.sethbarnes.com
I encourage anyone reading my blog to pick up these books! They are definitely great reads and offer unique challenges!
Another plus: the cover of Red Letters says, "Buy this book & feed an orphan for a month" What a great opportunity, read a good book and help!
Enjoy!
