As this semester is drawing to a close, I am looking toward Christmas break. But, since it is not here yet, I will give an update on what is going on here. We have two days left at Algoa. There we have been doing a sort of music therapy with some of the higher functioning girls thanks to the gifting God has given one of the girls on our team in that area. That will be our final Monday. On other days, we walk from ward to ward touching and talking to the children. Today, we walked into Bambino, the lowest functioning ward, to find out that the newest admitted resident, Annie (Annalyn), passed away over the weekend. As far as I could understand, she got an infection through her oxygen tube because her body was attempting to adjust to being moved from one environment to a different one. This little girl was so precious, she couldn't talk to us because of the oxygen, but she loved for you to just sit by her and she would point toward what she wanted. She loved pens and paper, drawing all over anything, and she loved having playing cards around. Prayers would be appreciated for her mom as I'm sure this is a very difficult time for her (she did come visit Annie, but we never had the opportunity to meet her). Next Wednesday will probably be the same as today was, walking around spending about an hour in each of the three wards. We visit Bambino, Harmony, and Haven wards, all children's.
We have three days left at Virginia's creche. Today, Tuesday, and Thursday. There we are able to just sit and hold the children and help Virginia and Monica with what they need done, whether it's washing clothes and blankets or the babies. Over the past couple of months, we have been able to build relationships with these amazing women. It is great to just be able to love on them and to have them begin opening up with us.
